Royals’ Ryan O’hearn: Avoids Arbitration With Royals

O’Hearn agreed to a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the Royals on Tuesday, avoiding arbitration.

O’Hearn, 29, has been a below-replacement-level player in the majors in each of the last four seasons, so it’s a little surprising that he’s sticking around on a big-league pact. Last year he saw time at first base, designated hitter and right field. O’Hearn is a career .219/.293/.390 hitter in 342 games and has been worth -1.4 fWAR over that time.

Before we explain how to watch the Kansas City Royals with a VPN, join us as we teach you the benefits a VPN can give you while watching sports. Many MLB games have blackout restrictions. These are used to increase attendance to games. Another reason that you might not be able to see the Royals is because the broadcasters might be showing another game. A VPN can help you solve this problem by allowing you to appear in a different region. This is done through changing your IP address to one from the server location you choose. If you select a location where your game is being shown, then you will be able to watch it. A VPN will also protect your privacy by masking your real IP. How To Watch The Kansas City Royals Vs Detroit Tigers

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez, left, waits as Detroit Tigers’ Riley Greene scores from third on a Javier Baez single during the fourth inning of a baseball game in Kansas City, Mo., Friday, Sept. 9, 2022. AP

After a day off on Monday, the Detroit Tigers return home to begin their final stretch of games at Comerica Park this season, beginning a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.

The Tigers are feeling good after having a great series against another division rival in the Chicago White Sox this past weekend. Detroit swept Chicago, on the road, effectively knocking them out of the race for the AL Central crown. It was the first time the Tigers earned a series sweep since taking down the division champion Cleveland Guardians back in July. It also marked just the third time in 2022 where Detroit earned a sweep in a series of three games or more. The Tigers return home, where they have gone 31-45 so far this season.

Like Detroit, Kansas City is also trying to ruin teams postseason hopes. The Royals are hot coming into Detroit, having won five of their last six games, including knocking the Minnesota Twins out of the playoff contention in a three-game sweep, while beating the Seattle Mariners, who hold the last Wild Card spot in the AL, twice in their weekend set. KC is now 10-12 in the month of September. They currently sit fourth in the division, 2.5 games ahead of the last-place Tigers.

Royals’ Diego Hernandez: Added To 40

The Royals added Hernandez to the 40-man roster Tuesday.

This move protects the lefty-hitting outfielder from the Rule 5 draft. Hernandez turns 22 this weekend and only played 32 games at Double-A last year, so he is unlikely to make the big-league club this spring. He hit .298/.357/.379 with two home runs and 13 steals in 141 plate appearances at Double-A.

Staying In The Picture

The Royals maintained a reputation as one of the American League West’s top teams throughout the late 1980s. The club posted a winning record in three of the four seasons following its 1985 World Series championship, while developing young stars such as Bo Jackson, Tom Gordon, and Kevin Seitzer. The Royals finished the 1989 season with a 9270 record but did not qualify for the playoffs, finishing second in their division behind the eventual World Series champion Oakland Athletics.

Though the team dropped out of contention from 1990 to 1992, the Royals still could generally be counted on to post winning records through the strike-shortened1994 season. With no playoff appearances despite the winning records during this era, many of the team’s highlights instead centered around the end of George Brett’s career, such as his third and final batting title in 1990which made him the first player to win batting titles in three different decadesand his 3,000th hit.

In 1994, the Royals moved from the AL West to the newly created AL Central along with the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins, joined by the Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers from the AL East. The Brewers left for the NL Central in 1998, replaced by the Detroit Tigers that moved from the AL East.

Royals’ Kyle Isbel: Homers In Game 162

Isbel went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday’s loss to Cleveland.

In the final game of the season, Isbel took a 1-0 cutter from Aaron Civale in the fifth inning over the fence in right field for his fifth long ball of 2022 and first since Sept. 3. The 25-year-old received sporadic at-bats over the last couple of weeks of the season, likely due to his undesirable .211/.264/.340 slash line on the campaign.
