As Part Of Gambling Deal Mlb Lineups Will Now Go To Commissioners Office Before Being Made Public
This move means the league offices will see lineups no later than 15 minutes before the press and public do.
Its something of a no-brainer for professional sports leagues to get involved in the burgeoning world of legalized sports gambling. But gambling always comes with strings attached, and sometimes those strings are going to dangle in a way that doesnt seem quite right.
That might be the case with the news that Peter Gammons reported on Wednesday, noting that as part of Major League Baseballs deal with MGM Resorts International to be their official gaming partner, team lineups will now go directly to the commissioners office before they go to the media or public-facing outlets.
In other words, Vegas gets a first look at the lineup each team is trotting out each day in order to inform their betting lines. Handing over that kind of impact is going to have a lot of managers feeling very wary about the way they deploy their strategies.
Per MLB’s gambling deal, managers have been told their daily lineups must 1st go to Commissioner’s Office, not to PR, not to media. “I’m really bothered by this,” one manager says. It’s OK to not field he best team, for service time reasons, but lineups 1st must go to Vegas.

Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle filled in the details. All MLB lineups must be submitted to the league for review no later than 15 minutes before the press and public see them.

Predicting Every Mlb Team’s 2023 Opening Day Lineup
Aaron Judge
For nearly half the league, the 2022 MLB season is essentially over, and the focus has already shifted to the future and the possibilities for 2023 and beyond.
Even for teams still in the thick of contention, one eye is always on what’s to come, and another busy offseason promises to alter the MLB landscape once again.
Last season, we presented a series predicting how each team’s Opening Day lineup might look, starting shortly after the trade deadline. Now it’s time for the first version of our 2023 Opening Day lineup predictions.
Aside from just assessing in-house talent for each team, that also meant shuffling around upcoming free agents and making decisions on contract options, so there will be plenty of new faces on new teams. The idea here is to provide one potential outcome for how the offseason ahead might play out, and some potential moves to start considering.
Is all of this going to be right? Absolutely not, and there will be plenty of updates to this article in the coming months. Think of this as a jumping-off point for the offseason to come.
Let’s get to it!

The 2022 MLB All-Star Game is set for Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. It is the 92nd edition of the Midsummer Classic and the American League enters riding an eight-game winning streak. The AL has won the 20 of the last 24 All-Star Games, though the AL’s lead in the all-time series is a modest 46-43-2. Lately though, the MLB All-Star Game has been one-sided.
Monday afternoon the two All-Star managers — Dusty Baker of the Astros and Brian Snitker of the defending World Series champion Braves — announced each squad’s starting lineup and starting pitcher. Here is the starting lineup for the AL team, which will be the home team despite the game being played in an NL ballpark:

How To Use Mlb Starting Lineups For Mlb Betting
With MLB being a daily sport, the bulk of starting lineups may remain the same each day. When there are changes though, that can lead to unexpected value in MLB betting. For example, if a pitcher is scratched and another pitcher with subpar ability is making a spot start, it could increase the value of home run props or other MLB betting markets. You can get a player like Aaron Judge at +250 to hit a HR if you act quickly with a scratched pitcher.
This is also why it is important to find the best odds and prices, especially in MLB betting. Signing up for multiple MLB betting sites will help give you a chance to get better value on MLB bets if you’ve used the MLB starting lineups page for an edge.
First, try the BetMGM bonus code and Caesars Sportsbook promo code to get up to $2,500 in total risk-free bets. Second, try the WynnBET promo code for another bonus of up to $200 in free bets. Use the MLB starting lineups tool to your advantage when combined with line shopping, as it will give you an edge in MLB betting.
The Anatomy Of A Perfect Major League Lineup

If a baseball lineup is like a puzzle, consider this the picture on the front of the box.
Every puzzle needs a point of reference to see how the pieces should fit, and that’s what’s laid out here.
Along with each position in the batting orderone through ninecomes an ideal approach or criteria that would come together to form the perfect lineup. This is spelled out below in bullet form.
Once the pieces are clearly defined and the puzzle is in place, the next step is to suggest the major league team that most closely fits the formula.
Since the point here is to focus on hitters, there will be no pitcher spot, because, well, no one likes to watch pitchers hit anyway.
The Perfect Lineup
- Gets on base via both plate discipline and contact skills
- Smart baserunner
No. 2 Hitter
- Patient approach to get on base and allow leadoff man to steal, if needed
- Knows how to act as a leadoff hitter if No. 1 hitter fails to get on
- High contact rate and strong bat control, including hitting behind runner and with two strikes
No. 3 Hitter
- Hits for both high average and power
- Focuses on waiting for and driving his pitch and does not expand zone
No. 4 Hitter
- Second-best hitter on team
- Hits for more power than No. 3 hitter but should be able to hit for average, too
- Ideally hits from opposite side of plate as either No. 3 or No. 5 hitter
No. 5 Hitter
No. 6 Hitter
No. 8 Hitter
