While there is some debate, many collectors consider this to be the first Michael Jordan on-card autograph card.
However, some will argue it was the extremely scarce 1994-1995 Collector’s Choice 5″ x 7″ blow-up box topper that, even though it was in a basketball product, featured Jordan in a baseball uniform.
And yet others will say that neither of those count since they show Jordan in a baseball uniform, opting instead to designate Jordan’s 1996 SPx autographed basketball card as his first on-card auto.
Opinions, aside, all I have to say is this: I’ll take any one of the three, please!
The bottom line is that this card is truly iconic and among his most desirable in the hobby.
Unlike many autographed cards of today, the cards were not numbered but there are believed to have been just 23 copies of this card.

The next card on our list features two of the city of Chicago’s most celebrated sports icons together at the same time.
Legendary Chicago Cubs broadcaster, Harry Caray, is shown interviewing Jordan for WGN as he looks up to him through those iconic, black-rimmed glasses.
Along with the base card, there is also an “Electric Diamond” and “Electric Diamond Gold” parallel that are tougher to find in high grade.
As a baseball sportscaster, you’ve got to think that Caray was overjoyed and probably quite shocked to be interviewing Jordan not on a basketball court, but on a baseball field.

Jordan Baseball Rookie Tells Story Of Batting Practice
The description on the back of the card notes that Jordan took batting practice with the White Sox on July 25, 1990, before a game with the Cleveland Indians. Jordan hit two over the fence during BP, including one into the upper deck. He posed in a White Sox uniform for a photo to go on a souvenir poster, the proceeds from which went to his charity, the Michael Jordan Foundation.
Jordan retired from the NBA after the Chicago Bulls won the 1993 championship, and played minor league baseball in 1994 with the Birmingham Barons, the Double-A affiliate of the White Sox. After that unspectacular showing, Jordan returned to the Bulls the next March.

The next card on our list was originally released in 1994. Part of a 270 card set, Michael Jordan featured alongside Minor Leagues best up-and-coming prospects. The image on this beautifully designed baseball card shows Jordan hitting the ball. It oddly, but quite coolly also features a smaller picture of the same image in the left corner of the card.
Only 15,000 copies of this gold card were made so if you have one and manage to get it graded to a PSA 10, youre onto a winner.

Despite being released over a decade after the Fleer, this card is still comparable in terms of value and prestige. The 97 UD Game Jersey set signaled the start of the Jersey Patch craze, with a large, luxury player patch that comes from Jordans 92 NBA All-Star game.
Theres no need to worry about a hangover from the junk wax era, as the odds of pulling a Jordan card from this set were 1 in 55,000. Thats Charlie and the Chocolate Factory levels of luck, and its a golden ticket by modern standards.

As well as the massive patch and a unique design, the addition of an aftermarket signature on the front only helps to make it more attractive for potential collectors.
There are also a couple of images of Jordan on the front, just in case you werent sure which player kickstarted the concept of patches.
Its somewhat basic compared to the multitude of special patches that are released in the modern era, but its still a real piece of sporting history. As an experimental piece, the edges are susceptible to damage, as well as the lining of the patch itself.
Hes pictured in his All-Star gear rather than his Bulls uniform, but thats no major issue considering the prestige of the UD brand, and the fact theres a patch from the 97 game attached.

Upper Deck Game Jersey Auto Patch 18/23
Sold in November 2018 for: $94,630
This card represented a key shift in the hobby as it was one of the first to feature game-used memorabilia, an on-card autograph and a handwritten serial number.
In this case, the card featured a small piece of the jersey that Jordan wroe during the 1992 NBA All-Star game, his eighth appearance at that point.
Upper Deck issued just 23 of these cards.
That rarity and what this card means to the hobby makes it extremely valuable in any condition.
Fleer Michael Jordan #17
On 1/17/2022 a PSA 10 sold for $4,550. The distinct gradient border of these basketball cards from 1988 makes their centering immediately apparent. For some basketball card collectors, this type of eye appeal is important, and theyd rather have a centered PSA 6 than an off-centered PSA 8, for example.

Fleer #57 Michael Jordan Rookie Card
Sold in March 2018 for: $41,400
My personal favorite of all Jordan cards is his 1986-87 Fleer rookie card, regarded as his “mainstream” rookie around the hobby.
The set itself revived interest in basketball cards in general as even Topps stopped producing basketball cards after their 1981 release.
Packed with rookie cards of several other Hall of Famers like Karl Malone, Charles Barkley and Dominique Wilkins to name a few, this set is truly iconic in the hobby.
And Jordan’s rookie tops them all by far…making it one of the most valuable basketball cards in the entire hobby.
Upper Deck Minors One
Upper Deck saw that Jordans baseball cards were getting more and more popular with collectors, so they created a minor league set. This One-on-One set shows Jordan in various poses playing for the Birmingham Barons minor league team. These Michael Jordan baseball cards sell for about $3 ungraded while gem mint 10s sell for $25-$30.

Collector’s Choice made its name as a low-cost collecting option, but it remains popular with and is an appealing option for several reasons. First, it’s a Michael Jordan rookie card that still can be found for just a few dollars. Second, it features a nice image of Michael Jordan that ties his two sports together. Lastly, it shows a goofier side of a player known for his incredible intensity and competitiveness. Parallels include gold and silver facsimile signatures.

Nba Hoops Slam Bams Michael Jordan #1sb
On 1/22/2019 a PSA 9 sold for $9,000.
Since there are no 10s and the pop is so low, based on how the market has increased since the last sale I would think this card fetches around $40,000.

Michael Jordan is one of the biggest names in all of sport and thus he will always make a great investment, possibly one of the best in the entire industry. While his baseball cards will never have the same demand as his basketball cards, they do offer a novel option that casual collectors would love to have in their collection and investors can still make money off of.
Jordans baseball career never turned out the way he hoped, but it did lead to many memorable moments and added an interesting chapter to his story. Released during the summer of 1994, this 270-card set featured some of baseball’s best up-and-coming Minor League Prospects of the time.
The dual-image design showcases Jordan taking a nice rip at the ball front and center with the same image scrunched into the lower left.
Along with the silver base card, a gold parallel limited to 15,000 copies offered collectors a nice chase.
The gold parallel is hard to find in top condition and goes for several hundred dollars in the rare instance one in PSA 10 grade surfaces for sale.

The pop is from all cards in the set, so if each card has a SN to 50, there should be 500 in existence. Yet only 34 have ever been graded by PSA.

The 1994 Sports Illustrated for Kids Series II set included 108 cards and featured prominent athletes, both past and present, from all over the world.
Distributed as parts of complete sheets inside Sports Illustrated for Kids magazines, collectors could easily separate the cards from one another because of their perforated edges.
I vividly remember how difficult it was to separate those Sports Illustrated for Kids cards without causing paper loss or other damage to the card.
Because of that, pristine examples of this card are hard to come by, making them worth quite a bit in that condition.

Jordan appeared on card #500 in the standard 1995 Collector’s Choice set, but he also appeared in the “Special Edition” set that contained just 265 cards in its checklist.
All of the base cards in the set feature blue borders while there are also silver and gold parallels that not only feature silver and gold borders, respectively, but also Jordan’s facsimile signature stamped along the bottom.
Each version also contains a “Special Edition” monicker stamped in foil in the upper-right corner.

In their second year of producing their Exquisite Collection offering, Upper Deck released only 50 of these “Limited Logos” that featured a Jordan autograph and a piece of one of his jerseys.

In addition, the three-colored patch from one of Jordan’s red Bulls jerseys provide even more pop.
Exquisite Collection cards were so limited and such high quality that only five cards were included in the special wooden boxes in which they were packaged.
