HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Ole Miss beat Southern Miss 5-0 Sunday in game two of a Super Regional to advance to the College World Series for the first time since 2014. It will be the Rebels’ sixth appearance in Omaha in June.
The host Golden Eagles , who won the Hattiesburg Regional last weekend, didn’t score a run in two games against Ole Miss. The Rebels won game one 10-0 on Saturday.
In the Sunday contest, freshman All-American Hunter Elliott was sensational, pitching seven and a third innings with 10 strikeouts and only three hits. He faced only 25 batters and in one stretch of the contest retired 16 straight.
In the eighth inning with his team leading 4-0, Elliott gave up a single to Slade Wilks. And after one out, Gabe Montenegro singled. At that point, Elliot’s superb day was done. Josh Mallitz came in and took care of business, but it got a bit shaky for a few moments.
Golden Eagle Reece Ewing walked to load the bases with two outs, but Carson Paetow flew out to shortstop Peyton Chatagnier, and there was no damage. At that point, Ole Miss had three outs to go.
Mallitz finished the game and got those three outs in the top of the ninth.
Hayden Dunhurst led off the sixth with a base hit and later scored on a Bench single. That made the score 4-0, and things were about to get interesting in the top of the eighth.
Elliot improved to 4-3 on the season and Mallitz got his second save.

Starting on Feb. 5, half-season ticket holders will get first choice on two half-season options. Each half-season option includes four weekend series and at least four midweek games. Season ticket holders will be able to make their socially-distanced seat selections starting Feb. 8 with a maximum of four tickets per account.
Camping chairs in groups of two and four will be provided in the left and right fields. No seating outside of permitted areas will be allowed, and there will also be a limited number of general admission single-game tickets available for midweek games.
Right field student tickets will be $5, going on sale every Monday before home games.

Mississippi Baseball Game Dates And Schedule
College baseball season generally takes place between mid-February and late June. Teams open play with three or four non-conference series before jumping into conference play in mid-March. There are several exciting early season events like the Frisco Classic and Round Rock Classic, which usually feature four top teams in a round-robin tournament. Conference tournaments will take place in late May with the NCAA Regionals, Super Regionals and College World Series all happening in June.
