What Is The Difference Between Soccer And Baseball Cleats
Baseball cleats are designed to help with traction and performance when on the baseball field, and most importantly, help players dig into the ground when theyâre batting, running, and throwing. Soccer cleats, on the other hand, are designed to help with traction, speed, and continuous running. Often, theyâre much lighter than baseball or football cleats.

How Do You Break In Baseball Cleats
Sometimes, baseball cleats need a little time to reach the perfect amount of comfort, but luckily, breaking in your new cleats doesnât have to be difficult. At New Balance, we recommend trying to use your cleats in small doses before you put them on for the first big game when wearing them. Use them when you practice on the field, take a jog in them on the field on non-game days, try to stretch and bend them into a V-shape for a few days to loosen them up.

How To Choose The Right Type Of Baseball Cleats
There are several different types of baseball cleats with each being suited to different playing surfaces. Having the right footwear can make all the difference so make sure you know where youÄôll be playing before making a purchase.
Metal Cleats: Metal Cleats provide the most traction and are made for digging into hard dirt infields and grass. Beware that the metal spikes will wear down if they are worn on surfaces other than grass or dirt.
Molded Cleats: Most molded plastic or rubber cleats are affixed to the sole of the shoe, providing a stable and strong footing. They can be worn on most surfaces, including concrete and asphalt, without wearing down. Molded cleats are typically less expensive than metal cleats and will last much longer. However, they do not provide the same level of grip as metal cleats.
Turfs: Turfs, sometimes called trainer shoes, are usually worn during practice or training. These shoes do not have any spikes but provide better grip on harder surfaces like artificial turf.
Detachable Cleats: With detachable cleats you have the option to screw in either metal or molded spikes. This gives the player the flexibility to adjust their cleats depending on the playing surface.

Choosing Baseball Or Softball Cleats:
Being around a baseball field all day almost every day allows me to hear questions from many different people. A lot of these questions come from parents. An often-asked question revolves around cleats. Below is the question. My recommendations are by no means the rule just a recommendation.
Baseball cleats at what age should my child wear them? What are the difference between baseball cleats and ones for other sports? What kinds are legal? Can my kid wear the cleats I bought for football? Why cant he wear regular sneakers? What are the dangers of wearing cleats?
When your child is starting baseball practice and playing games, then they should have baseball cleats. At a young age rubber spike cleats only! Usually, when kids get to about 13 is when leagues start to allow metal cleats, but each league is different. The differences between football cleats, soccer cleats and baseball cleats come down to where the manufacturer places the cleats on the bottom. The placement of the spike tends to change depending on the sport. At a really young age, I dont believe it really matters. When I was five or six, I was running around a baseball field with soccer cleats on most of the time. But as your child gets older, I would recommend buying different cleats for the different sports.
Hope this information helps,

What Type Of Baseball Cleat Should I Choose
When deciding on the type of spikes needed, you’ll want to consider that many recreational and youth baseball leagues prohibit metal cleats. However, molded and TPU baseball cleats provide ample traction and baseball shoes with removable spikes make adapting to field conditions simple.
- Metal Baseball Cleats are designed to really dig in! These baseball spikes deliver tough, clean traction. Metal baseball cleats are often used by advanced players at the high school, collegiate and pro levels.
- Made with durable studs, TPU/Molded Baseball Cleats can withstand a variety of surfaces. They’re most often used in youth leagues because they provide a safer alternative to metal spikes that can potentially injure other players.
- Baseball Turf Shoes such as the New Balance Men’s Fresh Foam 3000 v5 Baseball Turf have a sole similar to the average sneaker. Baseball trainers and turf shoes provide greater comfort during practices than spikes with a design that’s less likely to damage artificial grass and training facilities.
Expert tip: If you’re aiming to enhance your speed and agility on the diamond, consider a pair of low-top cleats, which boast a short profile and a lightweight feel to help you round the bases or field the ball with ease. If security and stability are what you’re looking for, mid- or high-top cleats may be a better fit. While the added weight might be a concern for some athletes, the extra height will give you ankle support throughout every inning.
